Welcome to 'Building with Nature'

Building with Nature shows how to utilize natural processes and provide opportunities for nature while realising hydraulic infrastructure. Design guidelines on how to make this happen in practice are available for everyone to use. These guidelines are based on the projects carried out  in the Building with Nature innovation programme. The work in the programme is carried out by the EcoShape consortium, that consists of private parties, government organisations and research institutes.

NEWS

Building with Nature has a new paper published in the Journal of Hydro-Environment Research, as well as in the ICE Virtual Library. The paper published in ICHE 2014 is also available.

The University of Wageningen has started a course on Building with Nature

Tidal Park launched: new natural area along the New Meuse River
On 16 March, Ecoshape signed a memorandum of understanding to work together with nine other parties to green the banks of the New Meuse River in Rotterdam. Ecoshape is involved in this programme through the EFRO project “Ecoshape Knowledge Valorisation, Building with Nature in Delta Cities”, a project involving Ecoshape, Deltares, Witteveen+Bos and the municipalities of Dordrecht and Rotterdam. Applying these Building with Nature concepts will lead to more green areas and nature in a tidal river, the banks and the surrounding area, resulting in an attractive new landscape: the tidal park.
